6 dead as truck crushes autorickshaw in Narsingdi

Six people have been killed in a collision between a truck and an autorickshaw in Narsingdi's Shibpur Upazila. They were all passengers on the CNG-run autorickshaw.

The incident occurred on the Shibpur-Monohardi road around 12:45pm on Saturday, according to OC Afzal Hossain.

The identities of the victims could not be ascertained immediately.

The autorickshaw was headed to Shibpur's Itakhola Mor from Monohardi when it collided head-on with a truck in the Poncharbari area, Afzal said citing witnesses.

The autorickshaw was crushed under the wheels of the truck, killing the six victims, including the driver and two women passengers, on the spot.

Firefighters subsequently retrieved the bodies from the wreckage of the autorickshaw.

Efforts are underway to identify the victims, said Afzal.
